We have the STAS j-rail max system which has been designed for heavy paintings. Simple and massively strong. This explains why this system is extensively used in galleries and museums all over the world. The highly effective, thick-walled aluminium profile is capable of supporting loads of up to 40kg per linear meter.

The Light Room is a gallery space to hire for artists, designers, photographers, sculptors and other creatives to exhibit their work. You will be required to organise the ‘manning’ of your exhibition. We offer the venue for exhibitions only. We do not support pop up shops or emporiums.

Timings:

  • If you are hiring for one day, you can access the venue at 9 am and need to be vacated by 10 pm.
  • If you are hiring for a weekend, you can access the venue from 9 am on a Thursday and need to be vacated by 12pm sharp on the following Monday.
  • If you are hiring for a week, you can access the venue from 2 pm on a Monday and need to be vacated by 12pm sharp on the following Monday.
  • If you are hiring for a fortnight, you can access the venue from 2 pm on a Monday and need to be vacated by 12pm sharp on Monday two weeks later.
  • If you are hiring for a month, you can access the venue from 2 pm on a Monday and need to be vacated by 12pm sharp on Monday four weeks later.

Our rates vary depending on how long you would like to hire the space. Our rate card is available to view here. We require 50% of your hire fee upfront to secure your booking. The remaining hire fee and security deposit (£150) must be settled 21 days prior to the event. To make a booking, click here.

In case of any damage, we require a £150 security deposit, payable 21 days in advance of your event. All deposits are refundable in full on successful fulfilment of the contract and inventory.

The minimum hire period is one day, with access from 9am to 10pm. Please check the rate card here.

If your event is cancelled due to a UK Government-enforced lockdown because of COVID 19-

  • Before your hire period, you will receive a full refund.

We will be there to greet you on the day and show you where everything is. You will be provided with a private door access code to come and go as you please during your allocated time period. The door code changes for each booking. We will have an inventory which we will go through with you on the day.

Yes, you can provide your guests with alcohol for private consumption only. You cannot sell alcohol on the premises.

You can have private views with drinks and canapes served up to 10pm. The space is not available for parties.

Are there any restrictions?2020-11-20T11:16:15+00:00
  • We are a non smoking venue.
  • We have a single front door and a single side door (emergency exit), so your artwork/sculptures or equipment needs to be able to fit through a single door or be reassembled once inside.
  • There is no outside space, so drinking or smoking on the pavement outside is not permitted.
  • There is no late licence, past 10pm, as we are in a residential area.
  • The air conditioning temperatures should not be adjusted, the venue will be set at an ambient room temperature.
  • We ask that you take great care of our original 1896 polished concrete floor. It doesn’t like fizzy drinks or even water!

  • On street parking bays only outside the venue. Free for 2 hours x 8 spaces on The Dean. Double yellow lines in all other places.
  • Perins School Pay & Display: 100 metres walk away
  • West Street, Alresford: 1 hour free parking
  • Watercress Line Train Station: Pay & Display 200 metres walk
  • Broad Street: 2 hours free parking, 200 metres walk
  • Alresford Recreation Centre (ARC): First 2 hours free parking

If the event is cancelled:

  • more than 60 days before the booked event: 30% of the total event is charged.
  • Less than 60 days and more than 14 days of the event: 50% of the total event is charged.
  • Within 14 days of the event: full hire fee will be required.
